The PROTOX Mould Box is used for handling small local mould infestations and is suitable for painters, caretakers, property inspectors or others who maintain buildings. Additional contents or individual parts for refilling the mould box can be ordered.

Briefly about mould growth

Mould is a naturally occurring organism found everywhere in nature. Mould in buildings indicates dampness and a poor indoor climate, as mould only grows when moisture is present. At a relative humidity above approximately 75 %, there is always a risk of mould growth. The more moisture in the building, the greater the risk of mould growth.

Mould growth is characterised by green, black, white or grey deposits on a surface. The first sign of mould growth is small dots that eventually grow together to form a larger, continuous and "furry" coating.

Mould growth can often be detected by sight due to visible spots and patches and is typically accompanied by a characteristic musty odour - like the smell of a damp basement. If stains are found on a cold exterior wall, such as behind the bed, on a basement wall or near leaking water pipes, there is a high probability of a mould infestation.
