The benefits of ProtoxInsekt

With ProtoxInsekt, you can prevent and control insect infestations in new and old woodwork so that the wood is not degraded by insects.

In buildings where people spend long periods of time (homes, office buildings and workplaces), the product may only be used in places where people generally only occasionally and briefly come into contact with treated wood (e.g. roof structures, skunk rooms and joists in basements and under floor structures).

Because ProtoxInsekt contains both a control and preventive effect, you don't need to treat with multiple agents to stop ongoing infestations and secure the woodwork against future infestations.

ProtoxInsekt is tested and approved

ProtoxInsekt has all the necessary authorisations according to Danish and EU legislation. The product is approved by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency according to Biocides Regulation (EU) No 528/2012, reg. no 795-2-2-1.

ProtoxInsekt has MAL 00-1.

Application of ProtoxInsekt

What is ProtoxInsekt?

ProtoxInsekt is wood protection against attacks by wood-boring insects such as bark beetles and house beetles. It combats ongoing infestations and prevents future attacks from wood-boring insects. ProtoxInsekt can be used on new and old wood and is especially suitable for protecting listed buildings such as churches, castles and manor houses. The product has a weak odour and a MAL code of 00-1.

Where do you use ProtoxInsekt?

  • Use on new and old woodwork
  • In buildings where people spend long periods of time (homes, office buildings and workplaces), the product may only be used in places where people generally only occasionally and briefly come into contact with treated wood (e.g. roof structures, skunk rooms and joists in basements and under floor structures).
  • Do NOT use to treat wood that comes into contact with food or feed
  • Use on wood with a temperature above 5°C

Preparation

ProtoxInsekt is ready to use and should not be diluted further.

To achieve the required effectiveness of the treatment, apply 200 g ProtoxInsekt per m² of wood surface for preventive treatment and 300 g for control treatment. This is best achieved by brushing or spraying 2-3 times - each time to the saturation point.

The product should not be stirred before use.

Always clean the woodwork thoroughly before starting treatment.

Always read the safety data sheet and data sheet before using the product.

Application

ProtoxInsekt can be applied by brush, spraying or dipping.

After treatment

Drying time is approximately 8 hours at 20°C.

Clean tools and utensils with soap and water after use.

ProtoxInsekt has a shelf life of at least 18 months from the date of production in unopened packaging and should be stored frost-free.

Empty packaging and residues must be delivered to the municipal hazardous waste collection centre.

Using ProtoxInsekt will cause minor scratching on untreated wood. You should therefore expect to sand the surface if you intend to paint it.

ProtoxInsekt can be infused with a fluorescent substance that lights up when illuminated with a UV lamp (UV Amber light 365 nm LED).  You can use this effect to control treatment. The effect is most obvious in the dark and less obvious in daylight.
