The benefits of ProtoxProtect
With ProtoxProtect you can prevent any mould attack on porous surfaces both indoors and outdoors. One of the great advantages of the product is its effect on surfaces that get wet from time to time, on thermal bridges in the home and on damp building materials. We're thinking in particular of roof trusses and roof veneer in roof spaces with poor ventilation and condensation due to undercooling and poorly insulated external walls. This is where mould grows particularly well, but with Protox Mould you can protect the surfaces and prevent mould.
ProtoxProtect also prevents the unsightly discolouration that mould often leaves behind, even when the mould has been removed. It also fights discolouration outdoors on wood, wooden decking and tiles, for example, so you can remove it completely.
ProtoxProtect is tested and approved
ProtoxProtect is not classified as hazardous, harmful to health or similar. ProtoxProtect is included/registered in the database for building products that can be used/included in Nordic Swan Ecolabelled buildings. And according to a Indoor climate report made by Eurofins A/S the product does not pollute the indoor climate after use.
ProtoxProtect has MAL 00-1.
Application of ProtoxProtect
What is ProtoxProtect
ProtoxProtect is a primer to prevent mould and discolouration from mould. It is especially suitable for thermal bridges, damp building materials and building parts that occasionally get wet. Protox Mould can be used both indoors and outdoors. The product has a faint acetone-like odour until dry, after which the odour disappears completely.
Where do you use ProtoxProtect?
- Can be used both indoors and outdoors
- Especially suitable for porous surfaces such as damp wood, plaster, concrete, eternit boards, masonry and wallpaper
- Use at a temperature above 5°C
When used on painted surfaces, gloss differences may occur. Carry out a small test before use.
Note: ProtoxProtect contains a binder that can form a film after drying on non-absorbent surfaces such as glass, plastic and glazed tiles. The film can be difficult to remove, so remember to cover non-suction surfaces.
Preparation
Before treating with ProtoxProtect, the surface must be as clean as unaffected surfaces. Therefore, if discolouration and mould growth is already present, the affected surface must first be disinfected or washed down with ProtoxHysan.
ProtoxProtect is ready to use and must not be diluted further.
Coverage is 3-5 m² per litre, but up to 6 m² on very slightly absorbent surfaces.
The product must be stirred before use.
Always read the safety data sheet before using the product.
Application
ProtoxProtect can be applied by brush, spraying or dipping.
Treatment with Protox Mould may be combined with mechanical cleaning such as ice blasting, sandblasting, milling or similar.
After treatment
Drying time is approximately 8 hours.
Clean tools and equipment with soap and water after use. If spillages have dried up, try to remove them with primer, acetone or similar.
ProtoxProtect has a shelf life of at least 2 years from production date in unopened packaging and should be stored frost-free.
Leftovers and empty packaging must be delivered to the municipal waste collection system.
After using ProtoxProtect, you can treat with most surface products. However, it is the user's responsibility to test the effectiveness of the product for the specific task after treatment with ProtoxProtect.
After finishing outdoors, the surface should be treated with a pigmented (opaque) and water-repellent surface product to protect the wood from degradation caused by the sun's UV rays and rain leaching. The item must be completely dry before applying the finish. Finishing should be done within one month.
