Hypochlorite is the active ingredient in well-known household products such as Klorin, Chlorrent and others, which have been some of the most widely used disinfectants in Denmark for decades.
The Danish Environmental Protection Agency has placed hypochorite on their list of undesirable substances (LOUS). The Danish Environmental Protection Agency suspects hypochlorite of forming by-products that are harmful to the environment and health when it comes into contact with substances that occur naturally in nature and, in particular, in the aquatic environment. Therefore, the EPA is working to get hypochlorite banned in the EU.
In addition, the hypochlorite listed on the Environmental Protection Agency's list of undesirable substances (LOUS).
