The benefits of ProtoxHysan

With ProtoxHysan, you get a product with many functions and options. The product is particularly good at removing mould, removing odors and disinfecting. The agent is used like other cleaning agents and can be combined with mechanical cleaning with a stiff brush.

One of the biggest advantages of ProtoxHysan is that the product breaks down mold and bacteria right down to the cell wall. This means that all mold is removed – both live and dead.

Another big advantage is that ProtoxHysan does not pollute the indoor climate (see ProtoxHysan's indoor climate report). The chlorine dioxide breaks down into oxygen and salt.

A third advantage of ProtoxHysan is that the agent both removes odors and disinfects after e.g. cloudbursts, rising sewage and dead animals and people. ProtoxHysan also disinfects for bacteria. It is therefore a preferred product when it comes to clean-up and sanitation in these situations.

ProtoxHysan has been tested and approved

ProtoxHysan is included/registered in the database for construction products that can be used in Swan-labelled construction.

The product is tested according to the EN standards EN 1650, EN 1276 and EN 13697. And according to a indoor climate report made by Eurofins A/S does the product not pollute the indoor climate after use. There is therefore no limitation on the size of the treated area.

Use of ProtoxHysan

What is ProtoxHysan

ProtoxHysan is a specially developed product against mould, for odor problems and for disinfection of bacterial growth. The product may be used by private and professional consumers for everything from window sills to larger renovation tasks. ProtoxHysan can therefore be used in several different ways and for different purposes, depending on the task and scope.

ProtoxHysan has a faint chlorine-like smell. The agent does not contain perfume or other fragrances and therefore does not pollute the indoor climate after treatment.

Where do you use ProtoxHysan

  • Can be used on surfaces affected by mould, odor problems or bacterial growth

The product can destroy some metals and bleach colour-sensitive surfaces/materials.

When do you use ProtoxHysan or ProtoxBiox

ProtoxHysan and ProtoxBiox are both used to clean mold and bacteria, but the products are used in different ways and on different surfaces. That is why we have created a user guide that shows you when and how to use the two products.

The purpose of the user manual is to achieve better quality control of the solution of the tasks. Therefore, we have also included different methods for how both internal and external control can be carried out in the user manual.

The user manual is in PDF format. You can therefore print it out, laminate it and take it with you on assignments, so you always know how to go about the individual task.

Preparation

ProtoxHysan comes both ready-to-use and concentrate. The ready-to-use spray bottle must not be diluted further. The concentrate can be diluted as needed based on the following:

Particularly stubborn discoloration: Concentrated ProtoxHysan

Heavy Attacks: 1 part ProtoxHysan + 1 part water

Moderate attacks: 1 part ProtoxHysan + 2 parts water

Light Attacks: 1 part ProtoxHysan + 3 parts water

Consumption is approx. 0.5 liters of working solution per m2 depending on the absorbency of the base.

The product must not be stirred before use.

ProtoxHysan must not be exposed to temperatures above 50°C or added to acid, because then chlorine dioxide can be formed (see the data sheet).

Ensure good ventilation during the treatment and during the drying period.

Always read the instructions for use and the safety data sheet before using the product.

When you want to remove mold

It is important to remove the cause of the mold infestation. If the cause is not removed, the mold will most likely return. In some cases, it is not possible to remove the cause. Here you can instead prevent new mold attacks with ProtoxProtect.

Control of mold for smaller and private jobs

  1. Remove the infested material if possible
  2. Vacuum the surface with a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter
  3. Spray on ProtoxHysan and scrub with a semi-rigid brush
  4. Rinse with ProtoxHysan and leave on for 24 hours

Combating mold for larger tasks

  1. As far as possible, remove the affected material (e.g. wallpaper and/or plaster)
  2. Vacuum the surface thoroughly with a vacuum cleaner with pollen filter (micro filter)
  3. Mix ProtoxHysan and water in a flower or garden sprayer
  4. Spray the ProtoxHysan solution on the mold infested surface
  5. Scrub the surface thoroughly with a nylon brush or motor scrubber until the mold infestation is loosened from the surface
  6. Rinse the surface clean with the solution to remove as much mold residue, particles and dirt from the surface as possible
  7. Leave the "wet" Hysan-treated surface for up to 1 day, so that the agent can continue to work on the surface, whereby residual odors are oxygenated (oxidized)

After 1 day's working time, the surface may wipe with a damp cloth. This is usually not necessary if you follow the instructions for use.

Respiratory protection for larger tasks

If you have to remove mold on a larger area (more than a few A4 pages) and especially if you have to remove mold-infested materials (e.g. wallpaper, plaster, plaster or insulation), there is a risk that dust may be released and mold spores to the air. We therefore recommend that you use a respirator of type P3 or better. A typical combination respirator of type B2/P3 protects you from inhaling particles from the molds and from inhaling aerosols when spraying with ProtoxHysan.

Odor removal with ProtoxHysan

You can also remove bad odors with ProtoxHysan. The smell may have come from mold growth, bacterial growth, dead animals, corpses and other things.

The smell is removed by soaking or washing the affected surfaces with ProtoxHysan or by mist spraying with the product. Mist spraying is particularly effective in hard-to-reach spaces.

The treatment can also be combined with The ProtoxAbScent pouch, which is hung up to remove residual odours.

Aftertreatment

The drying time is 4-8 hours at 20°C.

Utensils and tools are cleaned with soap and water after use.

The product must be stored dark and cold and must not be stored together with foodstuffs.

ProtoxHysan has a shelf life of 12 months in unopened packaging.

Empty packaging can be thrown away with the household waste.

Quality control

If you want to check yourself whether the mold has been removed, you can do it with a ProClean test. The ProClean test is a standard protein test that shows whether the mold proteins have been removed. You can perform the test already 10-15 minutes after using ProtoxHysan. Read more about ProClean here.
