Mould in wind turbines
Protox has a wide product range for cleaning, preventing and sealing mould in buildings, structures and foundations.
We have learned that mould in wind turbines is a growing problem that can have serious consequences for both the structure and efficiency of wind turbines.
Here are some of the classic challenges with mould in wind turbines:
- Environmental conditions: Wind turbines are often located in humid and windy areas, creating ideal conditions for mould. Humidity and condensation can accumulate in enclosed spaces, especially in the nacelle (generator housing).
- Structural damage: Acid formed by mould can attack materials such as wood, insulation and other organic components in wind turbines. This can lead to deterioration of the materials and ultimately structural damage.
- Efficiency reduction: The acid formed by mould is metal corrosive and can affect electrical components and lead to short circuits or breakdowns, reducing wind turbine efficiency and increasing maintenance costs.
- Health risks: For technicians and maintenance staff, mould can pose a health risk as spores can cause allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems.
Mould remediation and prevention
Protox are experts in professional mould remediation. In close collaboration with a wind turbine service advisor, we provide guidance on the choice of products and methods for cleaning and preventing mould.
