Valve impregnation
- When surface treatment is not enough

 

When impregnating wooden constructions, it can be difficult to ensure that the impregnating agent penetrates sufficiently far into the wood with a surface treatment. Instead, you can use impregnation valves to get the impregnation agent all the way into the wood.

When do you use impregnation valves?

When you have to prevent or combat fungal and insect attacks in woodwork, it is a good idea to lay out a strategy for how you can best solve the task. In that strategy, you must therefore consider how best to get the agent to penetrate the wood well enough for it to have the desired effect.

Here, valve impregnation can help if, for example:

  • The woodwork is surface treated
  • The wooden structure is very large
  • It is not possible to apply the product to all sides of the tree

If the surface is treated with surface treatment, the impregnating agent cannot penetrate unless the surface is completely cleaned of surface treatment. In large or inaccessible wooden constructions, it can also be difficult to achieve sufficient coverage so that you get the desired effect of the impregnation. Here, impregnation valves ensure that the impregnation agent gets right into the core of the wood and impregnates it from the inside out.

How to use impregnation valves?

The procedure for using impregnation valves is quite straightforward. Just follow the instructions here and you will be ready for first and repeated treatments in no time.

You will need:

  • Drill
  • Hammer
  • Valves
  • Airless spray gun of the type Wagner W180

How to impregnate valves:

  • Drill holes in the wood the same diameter as the selected valve. The holes can be drilled down to 10-15 centimeter distance and drilled until they are 12 mm from the opposite side.
  • Place the plastic valve in the drill hole and tap it in with a hammer.
  • Pump now ProtoxSvamp or ProtoxInsect into the tree using the special transition hose attached to the spray gun. The pressure during the injection must be 5-10 bar, with the highest pressure in new wood. A non-return valve prevents the impregnation liquid from running out of the valve, and the high pressure ensures a good distribution of the impregnation liquid in the wood.

We recommend that you treat at least 2 times (preferably more) 12-24 hours apart.

After the treatment, you must leave the valve in the wood so that it can be used for later finishing.
