ProtoxKombi Aqua
– a revolutionary new wood preservative from Protox
In the past, we have only been able to prevent attacks by wood-decomposing fungi and wood-decomposing insects by treating with a combination of 2 products. It has not been because there were no combination products that work against both wood-decomposing fungi and wood-decomposing insects at the same time, but only because we have not been able to vouch for these combination products.
Traditional combination products are often based on solvents – this is because it is technically much easier to get both insecticides and fungicides dissolved in turpentine.
In general, developing a water-based product is much more complicated than making a turpentine-based solution, as the active substances can NOT be dissolved in water and must therefore be "persuaded" to stay in the water phase without turning into crystals at the bottom of the can or to an oil film on the surface.
Another route to combination products has been the boron-containing products, and there we have seen a whole series of unfortunate properties, among other things of a purely application-technical nature, where products must be kept heated in order to be sprayed at temperatures that occur on construction sites in Denmark in large parts of the year. In addition, these products have the major disadvantage that they pull out of the woodwork and appear as crystals on the surface. The crystals attract moisture which increases the risk of mold growth and which makes subsequent treatment with paint impossible.
