ProtoxBiox

ProtoxBiox is a disinfectant for large, horizontal concrete surfaces against bacteria, viruses, yeasts and moulds.

  • Disinfects large, horizontal concrete surfaces
  • Has a fast reaction time that provides disinfection within seconds or minutes
  • ONLY to be used by professionals with proper training

The benefits of ProtoxBiox

ProtoxBiox is easy, quick and inexpensive to use for mould cleaning compared to conventional mechanical methods. Large concrete surfaces such as decks benefit particularly from a ProtoxBiox treatment. Cleaning with ProtoxBiox ensures thorough disinfection with very little physical effort. With a sensible division of labour, two men can therefore cover many square metres in one working day.

The active ingredient in ProtoxBiox is chlorine dioxide, which breaks down bacteria, viruses and the like. Due to the very high reactivity of chlorine dioxide, the excess chlorine dioxide is broken down very quickly.

ProtoxBiox is tested and approved

ProtoxBiox is approved by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration for disinfection of premises, fixtures and equipment that come into contact with food, in dairy herds and on fishing vessels.

The Danish authorisation number is: 2012-29-5409-00321.

The product is also tested according to EN standards EN 14476 (also against Corona) and EN 13697.

Active ingredient: In situ formation of chlorine dioxide by acidification of sodium chlorite.

Use of ProtoxBiox

What is ProtoxBiox?

ProtoxBiox is an effective disinfectant against all types of bacteria, viruses, yeasts and moulds. It releases chlorine dioxide into the liquid when you add the activator. Chlorine dioxide is very effective for disinfection. Even very low dilutions have a powerful disinfecting effect on microorganisms - viruses, bacteria and moulds alike. This is what makes ProtoxBiox so effective.

When you treat with ProtoxBiox, there will be an odour of chlorine dioxide (like in a swimming pool). A few hours after the treatment, the odour will have disappeared and only a very faint solution of common kitchen salt will be left behind.

ProtoxBiox is only sold to professional practitioners who have received the necessary training. If you do not have this training, then Contact us to learn more.

ProtoxBiox is delivered as 400-500 ppm solution of stabilised chlorine dioxide together with an activator.

A little chemistry: Chlorine dioxide

ProtoxBiox contains stabilised chlorine dioxide, which is released when you add the activator. The reaction turns the liquid yellow and it starts to smell of chlorine dioxide (like in a swimming pool).

Chlorine oxide is a very effective oxidising agent that breaks down the proteins that make up the cell membrane of microorganisms. As it is a direct degradation, organisms cannot develop resistance to the substance. Chlorine dioxide attacks and destroys microorganisms whether they are stuck (in a biofilm) or free floating in the water phase.

Chlorine dioxide is used for many different types of disinfection.

Chlorine dioxide works at very low concentrations. Even when added to process water down to 0.5 ppm, chlorine dioxide works very quickly - so quickly that the required contact time is measured in seconds.

Chlorine dioxide is a very unstable chemical. Therefore, the part that is not used to break down microorganisms during treatment will evaporate into the air where it will be broken down into oxygen and chloride ions (common kitchen salt) by the UV rays of light.

Where do you use ProtoxBiox?

  • Use on large horizontal concrete surfaces such as concrete decks and basement floors
  • Use for mould growth or bacterial infestation
  • Can be used after flooding, rising sewage and similar
Use at a temperature above 5°C

The product can destroy some metals and bleach organic materials.

Where do you use ProtoxBiox?

ProtoxBiox and ProtoxHysan are both used to clean mould and bacteria, but the products are used in different ways and on different surfaces. That's why we've created a user guide to show you when and how to use the two products.

The purpose of the user guide is to achieve better quality control of the tasks. That's why we've included different methods on how to perform both internal and external checks in the manual.

The user guide is in PDF format. You can print it out, laminate it and take it with you on assignments, so you always know how to approach individual tasks.

Preparation

ProtoxBiox is ready to use and must not be diluted further.

Consumption is approximately 0.5-1 litre per m2.

The product should not be stirred before use.

In case of mould infestation, flooding or rising sewage, the area must be cleaned before treatment with ProtoxBiox.

Safety and security

ProtoxBiox contains chlorine dioxide, which must be activated to work. Activation means that ProtoxBiox is not safe to use. ProtoxBiox is therefore ONLY sold to people who have received the necessary training on how to use the product. If you do not have this training, then Contact us to learn more.

When using ProtoxBiox, always pay close attention to your safety and the safety of others. Always read the safety instructions and safety data sheet carefully before using the product.

As a minimum, you must always wear a B2/P3 respirator, coveralls, boots, gloves and eye protection. You must also provide local exhaust ventilation. If you need to use ProtoxBiox in basements and similar enclosed spaces where you cannot ensure a supply of fresh air, you MUST use a supplied-air respirator.

ProtoxBiox must also NOT be mixed with acids or heated above 50°C. Doing so can result in the release of large amounts of chlorine dioxide.

Application

ProtoxBiox must be activated before use and can be applied with a watering can.

The product should ONLY be used by trained personnel.

After treatment

Drying time is 4-8 hours at 20°C.

Clean tools and utensils with water immediately after use.
